Josh Hart Becomes Triple-Double Machine: Breaks Knicks’ Single-Season Record

Josh hart became the man of the moment as he broke the longstanding record of most triple-doubles in a single game in Knick’s history. Read this article for more details.

Josh Hart made history by breaking the New York Knicks franchise record for the most triple-doubles in a single season. The historic moment occurred at a game against the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday night, where Hart achieved his ninth triple-double, surpassing the long-standing record held by Walt Frazier in the 1968-69 season. His accomplishment is specifically notable because he struggled to score triple-doubles in his first six NBA seasons.

His breakthrough moment came when he joined the Knicks and transformed into a key player, scoring a total of 15 triple-doubles over the past two seasons, which tied him with LeBron James and places him behind NBA stars like Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic. He opened up about his achievement and said, “It’s a blessing. I’ve got a great, high-character group of guys. It means I’ve played at least nine good games so far.”

In a touching moment following his record-breaking performance, Hart chose to pass the ball to his teammate Kevin McCullar Jr., who scored his first NBA basket post recovering from his knee injury. Josh Hart said it came in as an easy decision and shared his opinion, “For me, that’s an easy decision. That record is cool and a blessing, but that record is going to get broken at some point, hopefully later rather than sooner. But getting your first NBA points: No one can take that away from you. It’s important he got the game ball for that, and that’s an easy decision for me.”

The match was historic in many ways, as both Josh Hart and Karl-Anthony Towns recorded triple-doubles. It was the first time in the Knicks’ history that two teammates achieved triple-doubles in the same game. Hart finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists, while Towns ended with 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Towns also appreciated Josh Hart and said, “The way he does it is special. It’s all energy and effort and for the betterment of the team. “I’m just happy that Josh gets stats on the sheet that shows the impact he’s making on the game because I feel there’s much more stats that don’t show up on the stat sheet that he does for our team. So I’m happy he’s having this moment where the effort, the sacrifice he puts in for our team to be the best version of ourselves is showing up on the stat sheet.”
