Basketball was Brunson’s sport throughout his time at Lincolnshire, Illinois’ Stevenson High School. He was ranked first by Scout.com as a junior and was regarded as one of the best point guards in the nation.
In 2014, Brunson was named the inaugural Gatorade Player of the Year for Illinois Boys Basketball. A representative of Team USA at the Nike Hoop Summit, he also took part in the 2015 Jordan Brand Classic, 2015 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game, and 2015 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game. Brunson once again received the Illinois Gatorade Player of the Year award in his senior year.
