Is The Drought Over? Knicks To Win NBA Championship
Knicks have not been the NBA champions since 1973. Will they be able to win this year? Read this article to find out.

The New York Knicks are an American professional basketball team based in New York. They compete in the NBA as a member of the Eastern Conference. The Knicks made early appearances in NBA finals but lost in all of them.
Their first victory was in 1970 under the clear leadership of Willis Reed who was at the time the most dominant player and also got awarded the Most Valuable Player award. Knicks’ coach Red Holzman also got awarded as the Coach of the Year for their phenomenal victory. They won by 4-3 and defeated the Los Angeles Lakers. They faced the Lakers again in the finals in 1973, where they stood unbeaten under the team’s leader Walt Frazier by the score of 4-1.
Knicks Eye The First Title Since 1973
Unfortunately, they have not returned as champions ever since 1973. They made it into the finals in 1994 and 1999 but lost in both. The NBA season 2024-2025 started on 22 October 2024 and will conclude in June 2025. The Knicks, in particular, are doing amazing, which might lead them to their victory after a long wait of 52 years.
The team is currently Number 3 on the points table with 667 points, 32 wins, and 16 losses. They are just one victory behind Celtics to reign as Number 2 on the table. They defeated the Denver Nuggets on 30 January 2025.
“They’re playing really well. They’re well-coached, they’re pushing the pace, and in the halfcourt, they know what they’re doing. So they’re a really good team,” “I think they are the favourites – not the favourites, but I think top-five candidates for the title.” said Nugget star Nikola Jokić, the three-time NBA MVP.

“I don’t want to talk about the future, I want to talk about the present,” Karl-Anthony Towns, the versatile Knicks player said. “I want to talk about what we can do right now to be the best team we can be because I have a lot of experience, and if you can take care of the present, the future will take care of itself.”
